Getting started

Add the widget to your site, make it look like your brand and welcome your first visitor.

Adding the widget to your site

Paste one line of code into your site; the install is verified automatically.

Copy the code from Settings → Install in your dashboard and paste it right before the </body> tag on every page of your site. The script loads asynchronously, so it doesn't slow down your pages.

HTML
<script src="https://revochat.app/widget.js"
        data-revo-chat="YOUR_SITE_KEY" async></script>

After pasting the code, just open your site once: the first time the widget connects from your domain, the step on the Setup screen completes itself. There's no button to press.

Opening the chat page we host (revochat.app/chat/…) doesn't count as an install — that step only confirms the widget is really running on your own site.
  • WordPress: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer.php, or any “insert header/footer code” plugin.
  • Shopify: Online Store → Themes → Edit code → theme.liquid, before </body>.
  • Wix / Squarespace: the “custom code” field in your site settings, applied to all pages.
  • Next.js / React: as a <script> in your root layout, with defer/async.

For privacy (KVKK/GDPR), the widget records nothing until the visitor opens the chat bubble: they don't appear in the live visitors list, page views aren't tracked and no persistent ID is stored in the browser. The bubble is still visible, and the chat starts normally the moment the visitor opens it.

If you use a cookie consent tool (Cookiebot, CookieYes, Google Consent Mode…), make the call below when the visitor gives consent; for visitors who consent, tracking and proactive messages work even before they start a chat. If consent is withdrawn, consent(false) deletes the persistent ID.

JavaScript
RevoChat.consent(true);   // consent given
RevoChat.consent(false);  // consent withdrawn

If you identify your members with RevoChat.identify, turn on identity verification: create a secret under Settings → Install → Identity verification, keep it only on your server and sign the email there. A signed email shows a green check in the dashboard, and webhooks include visitorEmailVerified: true. An unsigned email (including one the visitor typed in) is saved but treated as unverified.

Node.js
const hash = crypto.createHmac("sha256", IDENTITY_SECRET).update(member.email).digest("hex");
// on the page:
RevoChat.identify({ email: member.email, name: member.name, hash });
On pages where you already have consent (e.g. after a member signs in), you can add data-consent="granted" to the script tag. If you'd rather track everyone without waiting for consent, there's a “Track visitors before they start a chat” option under Settings → Hours & routing → Privacy; in that case your site's cookie notice needs to cover it.

Customizing the widget's appearance

Color, position, welcome message, language and FAQ chips.

Under Settings → Appearance you can match the whole widget to your brand. Changes go live as soon as you save — no need to paste the code again.

  • Brand color: so the bubble and message bubbles match your brand.
  • Bubble position: bottom right (default) or bottom left — if something else already sits in the bottom-right corner of your site.
  • Welcome message: the first line visitors see when the chat opens.
  • Offline message: shown when no agent is available and the AI assistant is off.
  • Widget language: automatic, based on the visitor's browser language, or fixed (English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian).
  • Frequently asked questions: shown as chips on the welcome screen; when a visitor clicks one, the chat starts with that question.
To fix the language on a single page, add data-lang="en" to the script tag.

Stopping others from using your widget on their site

Lock your embed key to your own sites with the allowed domains list.

Your embed key is visible to anyone in the page source — that's normal and it isn't meant to be secret. But if you don't want someone copying the key and using it on their own site, fill in Settings → Install → Allowed domains.

  • While the list is empty, there's no restriction (the feature is optional).
  • Separate with commas: site.com, shop.site.com
  • Wildcards are supported: *.site.com covers all subdomains as well as site.com itself.
  • Connections from an address that isn't on the list are refused; the visitor sees no error, the widget simply isn't drawn.

A ready-made chat page if you don't have a website

Offer support through a shareable link, without pasting any code.

Every site has its own standalone chat page. Put the link in your social media profile, your email signature or a QR code; when a visitor clicks it, a full-screen chat opens and the conversation lands in the same inbox.
